Once we got home, the fun began!
Daddy used their wedding gift gravy ladle to scoop out the pumpkin guts. He said that it was the best tool ever -- good spoon angle, firm grip, strong metal. I'm sure it'll still work for gravy at Christmas.
Apparently, the internet said that smearing Vaseline all over the cut edges would preserve the carved pumpkin a bit longer. Mommy had to carve her pumpkin early since she left for Fort St. John and won't be back 'til Hallowe'en night. Good thing I don't need Vaseline anymore for my diapered bum.
